Alma Marie Heller
1919-2013
Our Nanny passed away on January 23, 2013 while at the Covenant Hospice at West Florida Hospital. She was surrounded by her children and grandchildren as she left to be with God.
Alma was a lifetime resident of Pensacola where she raised her five children, Patricia Dale Kea, Elizabeth Alma McCoy, Johanna Lea Burns, Deborah Kay Lyon and John Heller III. After that she was the go-to person to help raise her thirteen grandchildren, twenty five great grandchildren and one great-great-grand daughter.
She was preceded in death by husband, John Heller II; her first born son, Michael; her granddaughters, Allison McCoy and Lea Roberts; and her sisters, Juanita, Margaret and Frances.
In addition to her direct descendants she is survived by her brother, Frank (Pop) Schiller; sister, Barbara (Bobbie) Thompson and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was a product of the depression and it showed throughout her life. She wasted nothing but was generous with everything she had. Her house was your home. She was an avid fisherman until she could no longer do it well. Along with her sisters and cousins, she could be seen throwing a cast net alongside the three mile bridge for many years. She was a softball player and later in life was the biggest fan her grandchildren had. She loved watching baseball games involving family practically until her last day on earth.
She never met a stranger and always had a smile on her face. In a way, she was everyone's Nanny.
Visitation will be held 2-4pm Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel.
Funeral Mass will be held 10:00am Monday, January 28, 2013 at St. Paul Catholic Church followed by interment at Roberts Cemetery. There will be a reception in Alma's honor at St. Paul's following the burial.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Covenant Hospice in her name. Special thanks to the staff at West Florida Hospital and Covenant Hospice.

So sorry to hear of your mothers passing. We go back a long way; being next door neighbors for many years. She was a very sweet lady and good family friend. I fonly remember when we had a "peeping Tom" in the neighborhood and John came over and strung a trap of tin cans on a string between our houses ; to make a lot of noise if he came near us. My dad was working overtime at work; and mom was scared ! lol ! Our Prayers are with you, Jo, Patty,Betty,Debbie, and Johnny and familys. Love In Christ, Carole (Paulsen) and Bob Roeder.

Ms. Alma was truly one of GOD's greatest ladies. When I was a very small boy, if not for her and her husband John, My Mom, Brother Barry and I would not of had food or a roof over our heads. You all have my deepest sympathy and I shall keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. May GOD comfort you all during this time.
