1936 - 2013
Charles Adam Bessinger, known as Charlie to his many friends and family, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2013. He was born April 15, 1936, near Milton, FL, to Horace and Versie Bessinger. Charles was a life-time resident of the state, living his last two decades in Pensacola Beach and Gulf Breeze.
His early career began with four years' service in the Air Force, preparing him for eight years with RCA supporting the NASA space missions at Cape Canaveral. He returned with his family to the Panhandle and built his career with Air Products for 25 years until retirement. His enjoyment in life came from flying, fishing and boating, a good turn on the dance floor, and his family. He was a member of the Pensacola Beach Elks Lodge.
Survivors include: his wife of 52 years, Lena Brannen Bessinger; son, Michael of Los Angeles, CA; daughter, Laura Bessinger-Morse (Jeremy) of West Palm Beach, FL; granddaughters, Hanna, Kimberly, Julia and Tallulah. Also mourning are brothers- and sisters-in-law, Joe Ann Brannen Jones (Lloyd), Bill Brannen (Jan); five nieces and nephews and their spouses and children; and close cousins.
Trahan Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until memorial service begins at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Gulf Breeze Methodist Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be contributed to Covenant Hospice, Pensacola, Florida.
