Charles Wesley Bishop


Charles Wesley "Chuck" Bishop, age 75, passed away peacefully with family & loving wife by his side on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at West Florida Hospital. He was born in Tupelo, MS on August 29, 1937 to the late John Wesley Bishop and Clytee Kingsley Bishop. He graduated from Mooreville High School and joined the United States Navy at the age of 18. He was a devoted military man. Over his military career, he was awarded numerous metals.

Chuck served in the United States Navy for 23 years. He was stationed in Japan, Hawaii, Rhode Island, Antarctica (during operation Deep Freeze) where he met his beautiful, beloved wife, Lynette Wilson, Spain, California and finally settled in Milton, FL. He was an active member of the Fleet Reserve for 30 years. He was devoted to his wife and family. He enjoyed the simple things in life such as fishing, eating out with friends and family, winning big $ at the casinos, and loved woodworking making things for family and friends.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 50 years, Lynette Wilson Bishop, born in Palmerston North, New Zealand; two beautiful daughters, Deborah (Danny) Bishop Hood and Vicki Jo (James) Bishop-Crain; two granddaughters, Danielle Lynette and Dayna Leigh; a sister, Barbara Ann Tucker of Tupelo, MS; a brother, Douglas (Melba) Bishop of Tupelo, MS; three nieces, Charlotte Bishop, Crystal Tucker and Dawn of Tupelo, MS; and one nephew, Johnny Bishop of Tupelo, MS. He was a devoted friend to many including Pat Driver and Mike Janes, Norman and Gloria (his friends of many years) and J.R. and Debbie Cochran.

The family would like to thank the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Baptist Hospital and the wonderful care he and his family received under the care of Covenant Hospice at West Florida Hospital. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to .

His family will miss him dearly and he will be in our hearts forever.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

National Cremation & Burial Society of Milton has been entrusted with the arrangements.
