Cleon Wright Obituary
Wright, USN ret.
Cleon Byne Wright, 88, of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee passed away, Thursday morning, April 21st, 2011, at the home of his daughter Linda Ravn in Pensacola, Florida.
Cleon was born November 30, 1922 and was a son of the late Harold Edd and Ethel Lucina Hurd Wright. Many knew him as "Barney". He was a retired US Navy Captain, having served twenty-eight years as a Naval Aviator during World War II and the Korean conflict. Cleon was a 32nd degree Mason with membership in the Ferry Pass Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M. He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Barbara Clare Dohrn Wright, who died on February 28th, 1995 and his sister Ethel Ellen Wright Bennett who died May 25th, 1999.
Surviving are a son, David B. Wright and wife Pamela of Pleasant Hill, CA; three daughters, Sylvia A. Wright of Papua (formerly Irian Jaya), Indonesia, Linda S. Ravn and her husband Jeff of Cantonment, FL, and Beverly J. Hewett and her husband Elborn of Chubbuck, ID; two sisters, Eleanor "Ellie" McDonald of Cheyenne, WY and Eunice Gordon of Savannah, GA; and three brothers, Adrian and Charles Wright of Berlin, NJ and Earl Wright of Utica, NY; 13 grandchildren, Bruce Wright, Kimberly Richards, Christopher Wright, Penny Rowe and Emily Wright; Robert, Bill and Rhonda West; Byron Hewett, Pamela Stalder, Samantha Bonser, Melanie Lovelace and Barbara Worley; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00PM on Thursday, April 28th, 2011 at Ocean Woods Memorial Cemetery, Myrtle Beach, SC.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to: Ferry Pass Masonic Lodge No 348, 2320 E Johnson Ave, Pensacola, FL. 32514-6032.
The Ravn family wishes to thank Emerald Coast Hospice, specifically Julie Bingham, Evelyn Fields, Vicki Barlow, Teresa, Iris and Alicia for all the care. Barney's wish was to remain at home and they made that wish possible.
