1920 - 2013

Cora May Davis of Lillian, AL died July 24th, 2013 at the age of 93. She was born in Pitcairn, PA to Dempsey C. Myers and Grace Porch Myers. She was preceded in death by her parents and by husband Joe V. Davis, a daughter Suzi M. Pomeroy, one sister and three brothers. She is survived by a daughter Trudi Jo Carson and her husband Bill of Acton, MA and Pensacola and a son Joe "V" Davis of Wimberly, TX. She is also survived by three grandchildren; Scott Carson and his wife (Deanna) of Kittery, ME; Michael Carson and his wife (Gina) of Broomall, PA; and Amanda Pomeroy of Newtown, CT; five great grandchildren; Haley, Will, Anthony, Vincent and Alaina; as well as a brother Ray Myers and his wife Lois of North Huntingdon, PA; and son-in-law John S. Pomeroy of St. Albans, VT.

Cora May was a graduate of Norwin Union High School in Irwin, PA and Godwin Business College in East Liberty, PA. She was a veteran of World War II and was a member of The American Legion Post 240 (Pensacola), AMVETS, the Ladies Auxilliary of the VFW and the Fleet Reserve Association, WAVES National and Northwest Florida Waves Unit #52, and the Order of the Eastern Star. Cora May was the first woman president of the Lillian Community Club. She worked for several years at the Special Services Office at Corry Field. She was a volunteer at Baptist Hospital for 15 years and was a member of the Lillian United Methodist Church. She was a former member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Pensacola for over 50 years. A special thank you is extended to: Judy Covert, Swanson & IIene Brown, Dorothy Osborne, Robert & Gail Kelley and Luann Carroll for their friendship and assistance over the past several years.

The funeral service will be held at Oak Lawn Funeral Home on Monday, July 29, 2013 at 11:30am with visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Naval Aviation Museum Foundation, 1750 Radford Blvd, Suite B, NAS Pensacola, FL 32508.
