Dorothy Arlene Flanagan Hague Obituary
Dorothy Arlene

Flanagan Hague

Dorothy "Dot" Hague, 87, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away Friday, July 20, 2012. Dot was born in Bristol, CT on May 2, 1925 to Arlene Doyle Flanagan and William Flanagan, who predeceased her.

Dot met the love of her life, William "Bill" Hague in 1944, a sailor in the US Navy, and they married in July 1945. As a dedicated Navy wife, Dot traveled the world with Bill, having wonderful adventures and living in such far off places as The Hague, Netherlands, Paris, France, and Stuttgart, Germany. Dot and Bill chose Gulf Breeze, Florida to call home, and have lived there since 1974.

As the wife of a submariner, Dot's life was sometimes lonely and difficult. Her inner strength and perseverance (and good books) held their family together, even during such stressful times as the Cuban Missile Crisis, and frequent moves to new places and new schools.

Education was always a priority in her life and she insisted that everyone in her family pursue a college education. As a result, Bill went on to receive a Master's Degree, while all of her children completed college. Dot continued to pursue learning her whole life, and became an accomplished potter and a licensed hypnotist.

Dot was a wonderful storyteller, who could always bring a smile to anyone's face as she enthusiastically recalled stories of her upbringing in Connecticut or her traveling adventures with Bill, her children, and grandchildren. She loved gardening and always had flowers blooming around her home. Her grandchildren loved to swim with her in her backyard pool. She was patient, kind and caring, and loved by all who knew her.

Dot is survived by her husband of 66 years, Bill Hague; sister, Arlene Frankowski; her daughters Dr. Kathleen Armstrong and husband Richard Downs, and Lynndale Cacace and husband Richard Cacace; her son Terry Hague; and her grandchildren, Dr. Michael Armstrong and wife Erin Rahla, Daniel Armstrong, David Cacace, Colleen Cacace and Eric Hague; niece Robin Frankowski and nephew Raymond Frankowski, Jr.

Visitation will be 9:00a.m. Friday until service time at 10:00a.m. at Waters & Hibbert Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the or the .
