Major Gordon A.
Major Gordon A. Kroodsma, Sr. USMC (ret.), 91, of Pensacola, FL passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2013.
Gordon was born on April 20, 1921 in Correy, PA. He served in the US Marine Corps as an Aviator for 21 years as well as participated in the Mercury Project. Upon retirement, he spent 21 years as a Helicopter Pilot Instructor.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Robert Kroodsma; sister, Betty Wilson; wives, Montra Kroodsma and LaVaughn Kroodsma; as well as his son, Gordon "Corky" Kroodsma, Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Kroodsma of Pensacola; daughter, Diana K. Poist of Pensacola, FL; son, Gregory Kroodsma of Enterprise, AL; grandchildren, Christopher Lau, Kimberly Lau, Jason Lau, Jeremy Lau, Eric Kroodsma and Amber Kroodsma; 11 great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
Visitation will be held 12:30pm until the Funeral Service to begin at 1:00pm Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with Dr. Robert Gilliland officiating. Inurnment will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery with full military honors at 11:45am Tuesday, April 2, 2013.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Olive Baptist Church, 1836 E. Olive Rd., Pensacola, FL 32514.
The family wishes to thank the Covenant Hospice Inpatient and Palliative Care Center at West Florida Hospital.
