1926 - 2014

Helen Faye Byrd Burke born November 2, 1926 passed from this life on February 18, 2014.

She was married to Alcus Burke on May 29, 1944. A faithful servant all of her life and an example to everyone around her she worked tirelessly serving her family and anyone in need. She loved the Lord with all her heart looking to him through the joys and sorrows of her life. She was a long time member of Warrington Church of Christ. She made everyone feel special and knew the favorite foods for each of her children and grandchildren and made sure everyone had what they loved at each holiday. We all feel honored and blessed to have such a giving and loving person in our lives as long as God allowed. She worked at Sears for many years. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. We know she is free to dance as she hears "Well done good and faithful servant."

Preceded in death by their son Larry Alcus Burke, sisters, Lois Baggett, Mae Glass, Bessie Mullins, and her brother, Wiley T. Byrd, all of whom she missed terribly.

Survived by her husband of 70 years Alcus Burke; son Wayne Burke (Joyce); daughters, Carole Jernigan (Ken) and Cheryl Hoard (Rusty); nine very special grandchildren, Mark Burke, Timothy Burke, Teresa McLellan, Larry Burke II, Michelle Burke, Trezza Burke, Laurie Wilson, Justin Hoard and Katie Hoard; 16 great grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her very special nieces and nephews who she loved like her own and her best friend and sister-in-law, Estelle Francis.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 20, 2014 from 9:30 AM till the service time of 10:30 AM at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.

The family would like to express a special thank you to a network of angels, Emerald Coast Hospice, Cheryl Gleason and Ms. Evelyn, caregivers Belinda Lee, Jenny Williams, Amy Chastain and Angie Brown, who all worked so hard to help us honor our beloved Mother by taking care of her in the comfort of her home.
