Howard A. Aldridge

Howard A. Aldridge, 86, died Monday, June 11, 2012, after a brief illness. Howard was born on January 20, 1926 in Eupora, Ms. He joined U.S. Navy in 1943 where he later retired as a First Class Petty Officer, Ship Serviceman. His military life led him to many different locations. He eventually settled in Pensacola, Fl. As a civilian, he went on to work as a Supervisor of Environmental Services at Tate High School. From there, he began working for Civil Services at N.A.S. Pensacola, where he also retired. Howard was a member of Good Hope A.M.E. Church where he served as a Steward and sang in the Male Chorus until his health failed. He was also a very committed member of his Neighborhood Watch Program in the Wedgewood area. He will truly be missed by the many lives he has touched over the years.

Howard was preceded in death by his mother, Alexa L. Aldridge, and five brothers and sisters, Effie Dent, Harold Aldridge, William Aldridge, Norzell Aldridge, and Mildred Moore. He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving wife of 65 years, Sarah Aldridge, two sons, Steven Aldridge (Lynette Williams) and Alvin (Petula) Aldridge, four grandchildren, Deborah L. Aldridge, Demetria L. Aldridge, Cedric L. Aldridge, and Andre' L. Aldridge, two great-grandsons, Jacques D. Tillman and Definite L. Waters and a host of nieces and nephews. One very special Niece/Daughter, Carmen Mims who helped with care throughout his illness.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 11:00am at Good Hope A.M.E. Church located at 208 Gulf Beach Highway, Pensacola, Fl 32507 and Interment at Barrancas National Cemetery. Final arrangements entrusted to Benboe Funeral Home, 416 W. Wright Street Pensacola, Fl. 32501. Viewing will be at Benboe Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 from 1pm-7pm.
