Johnnie Velma Hordge, age 103, of Pensacola, FL passed away on June 27, 2011.
Born in Florala, AL on March 9, 1908, she later moved to Pensacola, FL where she became a devoted wife and mother and an excellent homemaker. Here favorite past times were sewing, knitting, crocheting and watching TV (especially soap operas).
She was the oldest living member of Sixth Avenue Baptist Church and looked forward to her many visits from her pastor.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Hordge; daughter, Margret Blair and son, Ed Hordge.
She is survived by her daughter in law, Eloise Hordge; grandson, Kenneth (Zannobia) Hordge; granddaughter, LaFaye (Ken) Roberts; great granddaughter, Kenya Hordge; brother in law, Jessie (Dannie) Sangfield; sister in law, Lillie D. Mathis; nephew, Aubrey (Cora) Mathis, and a special niece, Cynthia (Christopher) Anderson.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 2, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Sixth Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Public viewing will be held from 12:00 noon until 9:00 PM on Friday, July 1, 2011, at Joe Morris and Son Funeral Home.

Aunt Johnnie was a classy~stylish~sophisicated & witty lady. Johnnie was busy crafter; but always had time for a good conversation.
Johnnie will be greatly missed by many.

To Kenneth/Paula and the entire Hordge Family. May your memories of your grandmother be one of joy and pleasantness, may the life she lived and the wisdom she gave ever ring in your ears as a re minder of her life. one of the first promises of God is long life when you honor your mother and father. So she must have been a person who followed that commandment and made an impact of the life of others. May the God of Peace sanctify you holy and give you the peace that passes all understanding.
