Mary Louise King

Mary Louise King was born in Rector, Arkansas July 3, 1931, to Lee and Opal Walter. She and her husband, Joe King, moved to Pensacola in the early 1950's.

Mary was a long time member of the Church of Christ. She was a 1969 graduate of the University of West Florida, served as teacher for 27 years and received the 1996 Teacher of the Year award from Escambia Westgate Center.

She is preceded in death by her husband - Joe King, parents - Lee & Opal Walter and sister - Katie Hawkins.

Mary is survived by: son and daughter in-law, Gary and Rebecca King; daughter and son in-law, Tammy and Mike Slaughter; grandchildren Garet, Miranda and Connor Slaughter; sister and brother in-law Linda and Wayne McDaniel; nieces - Lisa York, Lorelei Broxson and Deidre Thomas and nephew - Mike McDaniel.

Visitation will be held 4:00 - 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 6, at Family-Funeral & Cremation, 7253 Plantation Road. A family graveside memorial at Barrancas National Cemetery will be held at a later date.

Although we can no longer see her smile or hear her laughter, we will forever hold them in our hearts.
