Mildred Elizabeth O'Hare Whittington

1916 - 2013

Mildred Whittington, 96, passed away on January 9, 2013. She was born on December 29, 1916 in Harrisburg, Arkansas to Peter and Lillie O'Hare. She wed Vernon Whittington in 1935 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. They lived many places during their 61 years together, including Pensacola, Columbus, GA and Jackson, MS where they were homebuilders and Realtors. They moved back to Pensacola in 1984 to retire. Mrs. Whittington was a longtime and faithful member of First Church of the Nazarene, and later in life, East Hill Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and devoted husband. Survivors include their son, Charles Whittington of Pensacola; three grandchildren, Hunter (and Carol) Whittington of Pensacola; Clay (and Traci) Whittington of Brookhaven, MS; and Scot Whittington of Atlanta, GA; seven great-grandchildren, Taylor, Ashlyn and Jackson Whittington of Pensacola, and Reagan, Riley, Anna Reid and William Whittington of Brookhaven, MS.

Mrs. Whittington will live in our memories as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.

Visitation will be held at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 1:30 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 2:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.

Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel, 3351 Scenic Highway is entrusted with arrangements.
