Minister Marilyn Smith Alexander

Minister Marilyn Smith Alexander, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, educator and child of God passed into the arms of the Lord on March 18, 2013. Marilyn was born in Orlando FL, on June 22, 1955 to Carl and Jennie Smith. Her father, mother, and her son Terry Alexander, Jr. Preceded her in death.
After graduating in 1973 from Edgewater High School in Orlando, FL., she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of West Florida, a Bachelor in Christian Education from Selma University, and a Master in Business Administration from the University of West Florida.
Minister Marilyn Alexander is survived by her husband of 38 years, Terry Alexander, Sr., daughter, Rasheda A. Alexander, three grandchildren, Elijah I. Alexander, Halimah A. Al-Khatib, and Nura S. Alexander of Orlando, FL,; her siblings, Sheila O'Bannon, Carl Smith, Jr. (LIndie) and Carolyn Smith of Orlando, FL., Gregory L. Smith of Fort Lauderdale, FL., mother-in-law Bessie L. Jones of Madison, FL., step mother, Clellie Mourning Orlando, FL., and godmother Arie Lee Ragler of Pensacola, FL., and a host of in-laws.
While serving in the United States Navy (NAS, Saufley Field, Training Squadron One), Minister Marilyn Alexander met and married Terry Alexander, Sr. in 1975. The Lord blessed this union with a son, the late Terry Alexander, Jr. and a daughter Rasheda Ameerah Alexander.
Reflected in Minister Marilyn Alexander's life were her strong Christian values. Preparing people for life in this world and the world to come was her passion. She served as the Director of Christian Education, First West Florida Baptist District Association.
Marilyn was a dedicated trainer and educator, credentialed in the fields of education and health. She was an instructor at Pensacola High School's Health Academy, certified dean and instructor by the Credentialing and Accrediting Agency, Division of Christian Education, Sunday School publishing Board. She was also a Medical Technologist and quantitative researcher at The College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Science, Florida A & M University. Marilyn's tenacity and love for education was evident as she researched, planned, facilitated and taught a wide range of classes.
While showing many fruits of the spirit-love, joy, peach, patience, kindness, goodness, and gentleness, Marilyn touched numerous lives with her smile and generosity and always showed her love for God, family, and her country.
"We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord".
(2 Cor 5:8). Minister Marilyn Alexander's husband, daughter, grandchildren, sisters, brothers, in-laws, church, friends, loves and miss her greatly, but are confident that she is present with the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Home Going Celebration for Minister Marilyn Alexander will be Friday, March 29, 2013 at 11:00 a.m., at The First Baptist Church of Warrington, 105 Gulf Beach Hwy, Pensacola, Florida; Pastor Dr. James H. Miller, Sr Will officiate. Burial, with honors, will be in the Barrancas National Cemetery.
