Mott R. Hemmer, 90, of Pensacola, passed away quietly on November 08, 2012 surrounded by his family.
Mott was born November 17, 1921 in Pensacola, Florida to Joseph Albert Hemmer and Mary Frank Hemmer. He is a descendant of the Quina, Bobe and Flores families of Pensacola. In his youth, Mott, worked as a wrangler at the King's Ranch in Texas and made movie props for many movies including the John Wayne film "The Fighting Seabees". He was a graduate of the U. S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kingspoint, NY and served as an engineer in the U.S. Merchant Marines. He was an instructor in the Pensacola Civil Air Patrol, an Eagle Scout and a past Assistant Scout Master, Troop 9, with the Boy Scouts of America. Mott worked as an engineer in the power house at St. Regis/Champion Paper Mill and retired after 40 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Milton Joseph Hemmer and sister, Julia Pape.
Survivors include his sons, William H. McNeil and Steven M. Hemmer; daughter, Sally H. Entwisle; sister, Peggy H. Blair; ten grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 12, 2012 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel.
Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
