Margaret A. "Peggy" Overly, beloved wife, mother and Grammy, passed away on September 11, 2012. Born on January 5, 1936 in Rochester, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Margaret and Donald Measel. She was educated in the Rochester Public School system, attended Thiel College in Greenville, Pennsylvania and Garfield Business Institute in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Ralph E. Overly and beloved sister-in-laws, Judy Measel of Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania and Betty Overly of Gautier, Mississippi. The couple has two sons, Ralph A. Overly and Dale R. Overly and their families: Tish (Ralph) Overly, Patty (Dale) Overly and three grandchildren: Sam Overly, Claire Overly and Evan Overly, all of Gulf Breeze, Florida.
When her boys were young, Peggy was a Montessori kindergarten teacher at Pensacola School of Liberal Arts. Later, she worked as a receptionist for Dr. Roger Voelker in his Pensacola practice. For 20 years, Peggy was the Organist for Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. An active member of the Altar Guild, Church choir, and a volunteer reader at Good Shepherd Lutheran School and Oriole Beach Elementary, she will be missed by her family, church family and friends. Peggy and her husband Ralph enjoyed being members of the Panhandle British Car Association and attending car shows in the area. During her retirement, she enjoyed reading, traveling with her husband and joining church friends on Cruises.
Peggy will be cremated and a Memorial Service will take place at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Gulf Breeze, on Saturday September 22, at 11:00 am. After the service, there will be a reception in the church Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Good Shepherd Lutheran School.
