Perry J. Cocoris, age 89, a retired U.S. Navy World War II Veteran went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 13, 2012. He was born in Birmingham, AL and moved to Pensacola as a young child. His father opened a small Greek grocery store on the corner of Cervantes and Devillers, long before there were supermarkets. Perry loved Bayview Park and spent many hours there swimming, skating, and watching movies in the early 1930's. He spent his youth delivering groceries on his bicycle until he joined the Navy at age 17. While in the Navy, he served in the Pacific during World War II where he saw several battles on the USS PHILIP, USS GANNET, and USS GREER. Perry was a great Harmonica player and enjoyed playing for family and friends.

Perry was preceded in death by his parents, John and Helen Cocoris and his brother George.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Maxine of 63 years; sons, John and Nick (Lisa); daughters, Debbie and Katina (Gary); sisters, Venetia James and Cathy Yonke; grandsons, Joshua, Nicholas, and Lucas and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank Emerald Coast Hospice for their loving care and support. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the .

Funeral service will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at 10:15 a.m.
