Raymond Gilmore passed away, Saturday, June 15, 2013. Raymond Gilmore, age 88, was born in Muscogee, FL, October 29, 1924, to William and Annie (Kilcrease) Gilmore. He grew up in Pensacola and joined the Navy in 1942. He received the Purple Heart after injuries in the South Pacific. He owned Gilmore Electric Co. from 1953 to 1978 and then worked as an Escambia County Electrical Inspector until his retirement in 1990.
He was a member of East Brent Baptist Church and a member of Masonic Lodge 296.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Joyzelle (Adkinson) Gilmore; four children, Cheryl (Ron) Smith, Joel Gilmore, Gary (Lori) Gilmore, and Mark (Angie) Gilmore; seven grandchildren, Eric Smith, Rhonda (Mark) Alexander, Jonathan (Laura) Gilmore, Jason (April) Gilmore, Celia Gilmore, Brandon Gilmore and Justin Gilmore; five great- grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; two brothers, Randall (Hatti) Gilmore and Bill (Mary) Gilmore, and one sister Ethel (Herman) Kranzer.
Pallbearers will be Mark Alexander, Jason Gilmore, Jonathan Gilmore, Lamar Kilcrease, Bobby Simmons, and Eric Smith. Honorary pallbearers include: Arngie Pope, Jr., Robert Baggett, Gene Rosenbaum, Holley Spencer, Hiram Smith, Howard Lowery, and Andy Lunsford.
The family will receive friends and family at East Brent Baptist Church, 4801 N Davis Hwy, from 1:00pm to 2:00pm with funeral services following at 2:00pm. Burial to follow at Bayview Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to East Brent Baptist Church.
