Shirley Mae Larson



Shirley Mae Larson, 79, passed away Thursday, March 06, 2014. She is preceded in death by her parents, Eric and Esther Larson; and her brother, Robert H. (Bob) Larson. She is survived by her three nieces, Debbie (Mike) Fowler of Golden, Colorado; Karen (Pete) Weidert of Biloxi, Mississippi; and Linda (Joe) Shofner, of Pace, FL. She is also survived by six great nieces, two great nephews, many great-great nieces, nephews and cousins.

Shirley is a graduate of Pensacola High School and Florida State University. She was a retired teacher, having taught Business at Pensacola Technical High School and George Stone Vocational School. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Beta Lambda Chapter and Escambia County Retired Teachers Association.

She was extremely involved in Warrington Baptist Church as a member of the Church Choir, Outreach/Treasurer of her Sunday School class and served on the Church Council. She was also active in her Monday lunch Bridge Club and Tuesday evening Bridge Club. After retirement Shirley enrolled in art classes and began painting.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Mrs. Glenna Lampley (the sister she never had). Also, the family wishes to thank Pam in Surgical Intensive Nursing Unit and Kaylon and Marie of 3-West wing, Baptist Hospital.

The visitation with reception will be held on Sunday, March 09, 2014 from 4pm to 7pm at Oak Lawn Funeral Home. The funeral service will be officiated by Reverend Larry White on Monday, March 10, 2014 at 1pm at Warrington Baptist Church, with interment to follow at Pine Rest Cemetery in Foley, Alabama. Pallbearers will be the Deacons of Warrington Baptist Church and Honorary Pallbearers will be members of her Sunday School Class. Memorial gifts may be made to Warrington Baptist Church Gleaners Sunday School Class, 103 West Winthrop Avenue, Pensacola, FL 32507 or a . Oak Lawn Funeral Home has been entrusted with the privilege of arrangements.
