He was preceded in death by his former spouse Marita P. Allen, who died suddenly at age 51, and his parents Grace Phipps Allen and Talmadge Moody Allen.

Born in Baltimore, MD on November 05, 1943, Tom enlisted in the US Navy at age 17 to serve his country and help support his family.

During his military service, he served in 4 combat zones, including 3 tours of duty in Vietnam. He earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Distinguished Service Medal.

Known widely as the "top cop on the flat top", he was consistently evaluated as " A strong leader who easily motivates others and possesses the courage to make difficult decisions. Truly an outstanding noncommissioned officer."

After retiring from the service in Pensacola, FL, Tom also served as a corrections officer in Escambia County for 13 years. He often regarded his time in the military and the sheriff's department as "40 proud years of community service".

Tom was also a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was an active member of the Pensacola Athletic Club. He spent many Sundays fishing or playing tennis with life-long friends, Chuck Nierling and Joe Neidig.

The Family wishes to thank everyone that made his transition back to the big fishing pond in the sky a memorable experience.
