Anna Jean Allen, 81, of Phenix City, passed away on October 29, 2010 after a brief illness.

Miss Allen was born August 1, 1929 to the late Louie Turner Allen and Dean Whaley Allen in Dawson, GA. Her brother Robert C. Allen and his wife Shirley also preceded her in death.
Miss Allen moved to Columbus at an early age. She was educated in the Muscogee county school system graduating from Jordan High School in 1946. She then attended and graduated from Bessie Tift College. She embarked upon her Civil Service career at Ft. Benning and continued at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Florida. At the time of her retirement, she was acting in the capacity of Deputy Controller of the Naval Aircraft Rework Facility. She was a member of Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church. After residing in Gulf Breeze, Florida for more than thirty years she returned to the Phenix City Columbus area three years ago.
Graveside services for Mrs. Allen will be 3:00 pm, Monday, November 1, 2010 at Parkhill Cemetery. According to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road Columbus, viewing for Miss Allen will be 2:00 pm, Monday, November 1, 2010 at the Funeral Home.
Survivors include her nephew, Clay (Cindy) Allen, great-nephew, Thomas Allen, great-niece, Luci Allen and loyal friends, Dean Wynn and Anne Cockrell.
