Judith "Judy" Altenbaugh died suddenly on Sunday, March 25, 2012. Judy was born in Detroit, Michigan, one of nine children of Lawrence and Frances Altenbaugh. She attended Pensacola Catholic High School and graduated from Rosarian Academy in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Upon returning to Pensacola, she graduated from Sacred Heart Nursing School and was a very dedicated nurse for fifty years with a short period of time serving in the U.S. Army. Judy's expertise was working the geriatric field. She had a special love and concern for the elderly. She seemed to know what they needed to be comfortable. She had a special place in her heart for her many pet dogs. They each, in their own way, were like her children.
Preceding her in death were her parents, brother, Rodney Altenbaugh, and sister, Janice Greek. She is survived by her brothers: Fr. Richard Altenbaugh, David Altenbaugh, and Verne (Carol) Altenbaugh; and sisters: Joan (Alfred) Ebert, Jane C. Pearson, and Mary (Richard) Knowles. She has many nieces and nephews including godchild Pam (Earl) Baker. Her family, relatives and friends will miss her greatly. Judy was a life-long member of Little Flower Catholic church which nurtured her love for the Lord.
A memorial Mass will be at Little Flower Catholic Church on Friday, March 30th, 2012 at 10:30 am. A reception celebrating her life will be in the Family Life Center following the Mass. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mother Theresa's Mission at Little Flower or the Humane Society.
