1929 - 2014
Clarence Wesley Blount, age 85, resident of Pensacola, Fl., passed away April 27, 2014. He was born April 4, 1929 to the late Walter and Gwendolyn Blount. He was educated in the Escambia County School System where he graduated from B.T. Washington High School in 1946. He joined the Army and served for 21 years. He returned to Pensacola and started a career at Barrancas National Cemetery until he retired in 1989. Better known as "Bip", he was a member of the American Legion Post 193, NAACP, and 1st Calvary Association. He loved sports, playing cards, and his beer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Gwendolyn Blount, three sisters, and two brothers.
Survivors include his daughters, Claretta Blount of Pensacola, and Karen (Cedrick) Scott of Talladega, Al.; granddaughters, Dominique Blount of Pensacola, and Lynn Barge of Atlanta, Ga.; one great granddaughter, Ava Wilson; one brother, Richard Blount of Pensacola, Fl.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be held Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Joe Morris & Son Funeral Home.
Services will be held Monday, May 5, 2014, at 11:30 a.m. at Talbot Chapel AME with Rev. Philpot officiating.
Burial will be at Barrancas National Cemetery.
