Madie Ree Archer Robinson

July 27, 1921 -

January 22, 2014

Mrs. Madie Ree Robinson, 92, of Marietta, Ga. passed away on Jan. 22, 2014. She was born on July 27, 1921 in Escambia County, Fl. to the late Richard L.and Ora Ola Archer. The 4th of 7 children, she grew up in Century, Florida. Always one to have a sense of adventure, and a zest for life, she and her husband, William A. (Bill) Robinson, a chemical engineer., traveled and lived in many parts of the world. Their first adventure led them to Guadalajara, Mexico where they moved with their two young daughters, Carolyn and Billie. From there, they moved to Antioch, California, where their son William Robbie was born. They also lived in Hawaii, Louisiana, Texas, Brazil, New York City, Guatemala, and Argentina-before finally settling in Blountstown, Florida, where they owned and operated a farm for many years. When the farm became too much for them, they moved to Panama City, Florida where they remained until Bill's death in 1994. After her husband's death, Ree stayed in Cantonment with her sister Alvis for a couple of years, before moving to Marietta, Ga. where she lived until her death. She truly lived life to its fullest! Ree was a lifelong learner, an avid gardener, and loved art. A few of her other interests included flying and skydiving! She may have been one of the kindest people ever-never turning her back on a stray animal (or person for that matter!) She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Riley and husband Jack, Billie Gibson and husband Al, her son, Robbie Robinson and wife Paula, her beloved 8 grandchildren and their spouses; 11 treasured great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her older siblings Edgar Archer, Pringle Fitzgerald, Elvin Archer, Alvis Reeves and their spouses, her nephew, Sam Archer, and her niece Sherry Mahoney. Since the time of her passing, her two younger brothers, Simmie Archer and Hansel Archer, have also passed.

Visitation will be on Sunday, May 25 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North, 1:00 pm with Memorial Services to follow. Internment will be at Gonzalez Methodist Church immediately after the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice.
