Trinidad "Eddie" Ilano

1927 - 2014

We celebrate the life of a kind and loving man as we say farewell to Trinidad "Eddie" Ilano, who passed peacefully, surrounded by his family and loved ones May 21, 2014, at the age of 86. He was born in Imus Cavite, Philippines, November 11, 1927. He was a devoted family man who welcomed and embraced all into his life. He was "Grandpa Eddie" to many kids as well as adults.

Eddie proudly served 30 years in the United States Navy as a steward, achieving the rank of Master Chief. He is a Korean War Veteran and served on the steward staff of Admiral Thomas Moorer, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff during the Nixon Administration.

After retiring from the Navy, Eddie continued cooking at the Bachelor's Officers Quarters at Naval Air Station, Pensacola and the Mustin Beach Officers Club, where he was famous for his perfect and delicious steamship round beef. After retiring from his civilian personnel career, Eddie dedicated his cooking efforts to his family and many friends. Cooking was his passion and he took great pleasure in watching many enjoy his wonderful dishes.

He is preceded in death by Teresa, his loving wife of 46 years, his parents, Monica and Anselmo, his sister, and two brothers. He leaves to cherish his memory, one brother and one sister, his six children, Timothy (Chris Ann), Monica Hoskins (Jim), Angelo (Tina), Rita Dotson (Ed), Edward, Kris and his many, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and very dear friends.

Eddie was also a member of the Filipino American Association of Pensacola for many years.

Visitation will be Friday, May 23, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral mass begins at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, Gulf Breeze, with Reverend Monsignor Hunt officiating. Reception to follow at the St. Ann Parish Hall.

Interment will be Tuesday, 10:15 a.m. May 27, 2014 at Barrancas National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Covenant Hospice or the .

The family would like to thank Dr. George Antonious and the nurses and staff at Nephrology Associates of the Gulf Coast and DaVita Home Options, Dr. David Sheppard of West Florida Internal Medicine, the nurses and staff of 6 Floor South, West Florida Hospital and Covenant Hospice.
