1929 - 2014

Barbara Boyd Maves, 84, resident of Pensacola, Florida for 47 years went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, June 6, 2014 at UniHealth Nursing Facility in Milton, FL. Barbara was born on June 17, 1929 in Washington, Indiana to Samuel and Helen Boyd. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Samuel Brown Boyd, her sister Eleanor Boyd Phillippe, and her granddaughter Jillian Stalter. She leaves behind her loving husband of 63 years, Harold (Arnie) Arnold Maves, Jr. whom she met and married at Purdue University; five children, Jenni Wiggins, Boyd Maves (Diana), Janet Fox (Chip), Lisa Henry (Lou), Samuel Maves (Amy); nine grandchildren, Laura Anderson (Aaron), Elizabeth Wiggins, Rick Fox (Heather), Daniel Fox, Jennifer Lewis (Cori), Landon Stalter, Benjamin Stalter, Cameron Maves, Mallory Maves; four great grandchildren, Aiden Anderson, Noah Lewis, Haleigh Fox, Cooper Fox. She was a loving and faithful minister's wife and mother who gave of herself endlessly. She was a committed Christian and member of McIlwain Memorial Presbyterian Church for 47 years, where she especially used her gift of teaching Scripture to women and children. A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, June 9th at 2:00 p.m. at McIlwain Memorial Presbyterian Church 1220 E. Blount St. There will be a time to visit the family at 1:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to McIlwain Memorial Presbyterian Church's Missions Fund. "Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her own works praise her in the gates."
