On Thursday, June 5th, 2014, Deacon Leon Rankins Jr. began his sacred journey from Earth to Heaven. He was born on October 6, 1943 in Evergreen, Alabama to Leon and Ivey Rankins Sr. He was a graduate of Conecuh County Training School, Class of 1962. Upon retiring from Ford Motor Company after 31 years, he relocated to Pensacola and united with the Restoration Church where he served faithfully until his health began to fail. Forever cherishing his memories are: wife, Edna Rankins; four children, Felicia (Rev. Daniel) Roberson, Tracy (Courtney) Berry, Bishop Leon (Pastor Melba) Rankins III, and Frederick (Mary) Williams; 7 grandchildren, Danesha Baldwin, Katura Roberson, Mayora Berry, Sterling Berry, Leon Rankins IV, Porter Rankins, and Brianna Williams; one great-granddaughter, Kadence Harris; 3 sisters, Geraldine Edwards, Francine Edwards, and Cynthia Coleman and many other relatives and friends. The wake will be 6 to 7 pm tonight at the funeral home. Home-going Celebration will be held on Saturday, June 14th at 1 pm at Restoration Church, 900 West Cervantes Street. JOE MORRIS AND SON FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements.
