Rita Alexine Lockwood Golson, 88, of Pensacola, FL died peacefully on Tuesday, June 17, 2014. Born October 21, 1925 she was a lifelong resident of Pensacola.
Being a devout Catholic her entire life, she was also a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Dancing, going to the beach and taking care of her family were a few things that she enjoyed. Most important to her was taking care of her husband and family.
After marrying the love of her life, Wyatte Anthony "Bub" Golson, Jr., they celebrated 66 years of marriage.
Preceded in death by her parents, Charles & Kathryn Lockwood; 3 brothers, Herbert, George and Frank Lockwood; 5 sisters, Grace Gardner, Agnes Clopton, Pearl Togersen, Doris Frater and Alice Hawsey. She is now at peace with her Heavenly Father and reunited with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Wyatte Anthony "Bub" Golson, Jr.; 6 children, Rita Ilene (Tommy) McClammy, Frank (Libby) Golson, Judy (David Wayne) Cork, Wyatte (Mary) Golson Ill, Etta (Andy) Scanlon and Terry (Michelle) Golson; along with her 22 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. There are many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly, as well as her 4 sisters-in-law; Eva Mitchell, Peggy Peeterse, Helen Golson and Mary Lockwood.
Visitation will be held 5-7pmThursday, June 19, 2014 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with a Rosary being said at 5:00pm. Funeral Mass will be held 10:00am Friday, June 20, 2014 at St Joseph Catholic Church, with Fr. Pat Foley celebrant. Burial will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons; Tommy, Darrell and Kevin McClammy, Wyatte Golson IV, Jeff Heitland, Shane Scanlon, Justin O'Quinn and Jason Smith.
