Vera McLean Houser



Vera Houser, 94, went to her heavenly home to be with Jesus on July 3, 2014. She was born in Santa Rosa County to Samuel and Dewey McLean, but lived in Pensacola most of her life. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great.; sister and friend. For several years, Vera taught Sunday School at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and was a member of Ensley First Baptist Church for the past 34 years. At age 88, Vera retired. She delivered Meals-on-Wheels until her retirement. In her free time she enjoyed visiting shut-ins from her church.

Vera was preceded in death by her husband, A. J. Houser II; three brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by son, Butch Houser; daughters, Delores (Richard) Swigart, Christina (David) Bridwell and Alice (Rick) Forte; sister, Pauline Crisco; brother, Billy Mclean; Gale (Larry) Kervin Smith and sons, who were like family to Vera; grandchildren, Shawn, Shelly, Dustin, Heather, Ashley, Shane and Emily; and eighteen great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 8, 2014 from 9:00 am until the 10:00 am funeral service at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South. Burt Kervin and Butch Kervin will be officiating and burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
