Joseph F. Partridge

Joseph F. Partridge, 84, passed to his heavenly father on Sunday, July 7, 2014 at Sacred Heart Hospital. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Jewel Grimes Partridge, his daughter, Sandy Dreis and her husband Jerry; his son, Joe Jr. and his companion Frank and his son, Kevin and his wife Faye.

Joe was born December 14, 1929 in Philadelphia, PA. He served in the Air Force for 8 and a-half years. While stationed at Eglin Air Force base, he met the love of his life Jewel. After Joe returned to civilian life he made his home in Pensacola. Joe began working for Armstrong World Industries and after 33 years of managing various roles, he retired.

After his retirement he volunteered his services with Manna Food Bank, Meals on Wheels, Loaves and Fishes, Habitat for Humanity, and numerous projects for his church. Joe particularly enjoyed woodworking and working with his hands. He was active in the United Methodist Men and lately with the Blinded Veterans.

A sense of humor, an abiding love for his wife and children, and a sustaining faith are the attributes we will most remember and cherish about Joe.

In loving memory from his wife of 62 years and his three children, we give a heartfelt tribute and thanks to him for all that he did for us; for his unconditional love and for believing in each of us. He provided strength under every circumstance, including hardships and challenges, while shaping our lives with hope and love, imparting to us the strength and integrity so many people admired in his character. He was the backbone of his family - strong, compassionate and loving. His innate decency and gentleman-like qualities kept us all (family, friends and acquaintances), respectful of him at all times.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, 10:00AM, July 9, 2014, at Cokesbury United Methodist Church, 9th Ave with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 11:00AM.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Cokesbury United Methodist Church.
