John Kvartek, 71, of Milton, passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2014, with his loving family by his side.
Mr. Kvartek was born in Yonkers, New York, and had lived in the Milton area since 1975. He was retired from the U.S. Navy with 20 years of service to his country. He also retired from the Escambia County School Board with 16 years of service.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Kvartek and Doris Deane Kvartek; two brothers, Andrew Kvartek and Willie Kvartek.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Donna Ballard Kvartek; two children, Michelle Marie Kvartek of Lancaster, California, and John Michael (Tammy) Kvartek of Pace, five grandchildren, Kelsey Kvartek, twins Kyle and Kaleb Kvartek, Maryam Bentchich, and Yusuf Bentchich; two sisters, Dorie Kamps and Mary Beth Barracato; and a a brother, Tommy Kvartek..
Funeral Services for Mr. Kvartek will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at the Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel, with Rev. Ronnie Ballard, and Rev. Leon Ballard officiating. Burial will follow in the Barrancas National Cemetery with full military honors, with Lewis Funeral Home directing.
The family will receive friends from 6 pm to 8 pm on Tuesday evening, July 29, 2014 at the Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel.
