David Phillip McCluskey, Sr., 85, of Pensacola, FL peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 with his family by his side.
David was born on March 16, 1929 to Phillip and Jean McCluskey. After attending Pensacola High School he joined the Navy and was stationed in Pearl Harbor. David retired from NARF after 37 years of service. He was a life-long member of East Brent Baptist Church where he married Dorothy Johnson on November 24, 1949.
David enjoyed fishing, traveling, sports and spending time with his family. He was loved by those whose lives he touched and will be remembered as a loving husband, daddy and Papa.
David was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Carol Van Dyke; son David McCluskey, Jr.; sons-in-law, Randy Rose and Mike Van Dyke; sister, Maxine Scheutzow; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Jim McCullough, brothers-in-law Jimmy and Charles Johnson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Dorothy; daughters, Brenda Ward (Mike), Bonnie Bell (Emory) and Mary Rose; granddaughters Dr. Melissa Kozakiewicz (Jordan), Stephanie Eggart, Michele Wilson, Meredith Sundbye (Rob), Tracy Riddle and Jennifer Shiver (Steve); grandson Dr. Phillip Bell (Kristin); great grandchildren, Patrick Eggart, Clara and Charlotte Kozakiewicz, Robby and Nicholas Sundbye, Blake, Reid and Reese Shiver and Bailey McCluskey; Sister Pat Zarubin (Bill); daughter-in-law, Kathy McCluskey; sisters-in-law, Charlene Johnson, Betty Lou Johnson and Lillian Johnson and many relatives and friends.
Visitation will begin at 10:00am followed by the Funeral service at 11:00am Friday, August 22, 2014 at East Brent Baptist Church with Dr. Dale Patterson officiating. Burial will follow at Clopton Cemetery.
Active Pallbearers will be Emory Bell, Phillip Bell, Jordan Kozakiewicz, Mike Ward, Doyle Mobley and Charles Nye.
In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to the East Brent Baptist Church, Building Fund, 4801 N. Davis Hwy., Pensacola, FL 32503 in memory of David P. McCluskey, Sr.
