Cullen Thomley

August 20, 2014

On August 20, 2014 Cullen received his perfect body as he walked through the gates of Heaven.

He fought a good fight against a failing heart and daily dialysis. He passed away with his family at his side, at home and on his terms.

He was one of seven children, and was born in Wicksburg, Alabama. His parents, Fletcher and Edna Thomley, as well as three sisters, Bonzie Myers, Daisy Douglas and Hazel Ingram and one brother, Tom Thomley preceded him in death.

Cullen is loved and survived by his wife of 59 years, Frances Conner Thomley whom he married on October 29, 1955.

Cullen is also survived by his two sons, Glenn (Sally) Thomley and Wayne (Dora) Thomley; four grandchildren, Meredith Thomley, Diane (Derek) Chamberlain, Christopher (Ashlee) Thomley and Amanda Thomley. He was blessed with five great grandchildren, Wyatt and Clayton Chamberlain, who were his hunting buddies, Kathleen Thomley, Sabrina Thomley and Aiden Thomley; one sister, Dorothy "Scrap" Stewart and one brother, Jimmy Thomley.

Soon after their marriage Cullen began working at Chemstrand and retired after 32 years with perfect attendance.

Cullen loved to mullet fish and to hunt, and he was a charter member of Pine Barren Creek Hunting Club.

Funeral services will be held at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North on Saturday, August 23 at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor Jimmy Lancaster and Pastor Michael Graham, officiating. Burial will follow in Cottage Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until time of services.
