Bettye Davis Obituary
Bettye M. Davis

1935-2014

Bettye M. Davis, 79, of Pensacola peacefully passed away on August 30, 2014.

She was born July 7, 1935 in Fulton, MS. She graduated from I.A.H.S. and was the class Valedictorian. Bettye graduated from Mississippi State University with an English degree and taught for many years. She moved to Florida in 1981 and fell in love with the white sands of Pensacola Beach. She owned a flower shop and worked as a floral designer while living at Pensacola Beach.

She was a member of the Pensacola Beach Community Church and the Pensacola Beach Women's Club.

Bettye loved plants and flowers and had an amazing "Green Thumb". Above all, Bettye loved her family, friends and cherished her grandsons more than anything.

However, on Saturdays in the fall, Mississippi State football trumped everything!!

Bettye was a passionate football fan and knew the game better than even some who played it.

Her husband, Frank; her mother, Lillie McNeece and her father, Mitchell McNeece preceded Bettye in death.

She is survived by her sons; Scott (Lydia) Davis and Matt (Tracey) Davis both of Pensacola; sister, Emily (Jimmy) Mills of Pensacola and brothers; Boyce (Carolyn) McNeece, Mitch (Sam) McNeece and Jeff (Teresa) McNeece of Fulton, MS and 5 grandsons, Matthew, Luke, Max, Saylor and Michael of Pensacola.

The family would like to extend a very special thanks to 2 very special friends, Johnny Holland and Carleen Wheeler. They were there for Bettye and the family through the good times and tough times over the years. Thank you!

A Memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Rosewood Manor in memory of Bettye M. Davis.

The family would also like to extend a big thank you to the staff at Rosewood Manor, Bettye's home for the past 5½ years. The care, compassion and love that they gave Bettye are beyond words. Thank you!

HAIL STATE!! GO DAWGS!!
