Loretta Sheridan Combs, 91, of Pensacola died peacefully on Tuesday, August 31, 2010. She was born August 29, 1919 in North Chicago, IL and graduated from Holy Child High School. She met the love of her life, Norris Combs in Chicago and they were married August 24, 1940. They were married 66 years before his death in May of 2007. Loretta was a devoted Navy wife and mother as they were stationed around the world. She was active in the Navy Officers Wife's League. She was also an avid bridge player and played in various bridge leagues throughout the years. Her real joy, however, was baking a variety of delicious cookies which she shared with all her family and friends.

Preceding her in death was her husband; Cdr. Norris K. Combs and her parents, Michael and Kathryn Sheridan.
She is survived by her 3 sons; Thomas, Richard (Debbie) and Robert (Lisa); 4 grandchildren, Tina Taylor (Stacy), Amy Bender (Robert), Laura Dees (Robert) and Tyler Combs; 4 great grandchildren, Will Taylor, Whitney Taylor, Avery Taylor and Evan Dees.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2010 from 5-7pm at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 3, 2010 at 11:30 from the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Msgr. Michael Reed celebrant. Burial follows at Barrancas National Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be John Fox, Dan Gilmore, Zac Gilmore, Grant Hofberger, Sonny Pursell and Tyler Combs.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Naval Aviation Museum, 1750 Radford Blvd. Suite B, NAS Pensacola, FL 32508.
The family wishes to give special "Thanks" to Dr. Steve Moehle, Andrea and Staff, Lillie Carstarphen and Covenant Hospice.
