Virginia Bush Mathews

1930 - 2011

Virginia Bush Mathews of Milton passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2011. She was a native and lifelong resident of Santa Rosa County. She was a 1948 graduate of Allentown High School.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Nathan Bush, Sr. and Mamie Von Axelson Bush; brothers, William Eric Bush, Joseph Nathan Bush, Jr., George "Mickey" Bush and sisters, Enez Robra and Lucille Free.

Virginia is survived by her husband of 61 years, Hankins Mathews; two sisters, Mary Peacock of Indiana and Elenora Jernigan of Milton; one brother, Melvin (Marlene) Bush of Pace; one daughter, Linda (Larry) Gann; one son, Steven (Marguerite) Mathews; four grandsons, Wes (Jessica), Trent (Sharon), Jeff (Sara), Dusty (Mandy) all of Milton; one granddaughter, Larinda (Chris) Musgrove of Mobile; eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Pallbearers will be grandsons; Wes, Trent, Jeff and Dusty; nephew, Elson Jernigan and son-in-law, Larry Gann.

Memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice, 5041 N. 12th Avenue, Pensacola, Florida 32504.

Special thanks are given by the family to Dr. Jeffrey Kelley and C. David Smith, and the staffs of Century Care Center and Covenant Hospice for their care and compassion.

Funeral service will be 10:00 am Monday, February 21, 2011 at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel with Pastor Mike Wiggins of Pine Terrace Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Serenity Gardens Cemetery in Milton. Visitation will be 4:00 ? 6:00 pm Sunday, February 20, 2011 at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel.
