Willis Lamar "Son" Pittman was born on October 1, 1930. He was a lifelong resident of the Gateswood Community, Baldwin County, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Dewey Pittman and Eva Mae Allen Pittman. He is survived by his wife, DiAnn Pittman, two sisters, Odell Roberts (Dick Roberts deceased) and Georgia Pfeiffer and her husband Leroy Pfeiffer, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Anita & Michael Nordstrom, Rene & Layla Benbow and Terry & Heather Benbow, 8 nieces, 3 nephews and other relatives and friends.
Lamar worked many years at the Robertsdale Livestock Auction. He began working with the Baldwin County Board of Education in 1961 as a bus driver and parts manager at the bus garage. After 35 years he retired on August 31, 1996.
Pall bearers are Jeff Allen, Larry Johnson, George Pittman, Rick Roberts, Dennis Staska and Marcus Wiley. Honorary pall bearers are Orlon Allen, Clarence Burke, Doug Burke, Edmund Hare L.C. Morris, Herbert Pittman and T.C. Rogers.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 24, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the New Hope United Methodist Church with Rev. Rodney Smith officiating. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery. A visitation will be held Wednesday, March 23, 2011 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Mack Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Community Hospice of Baldwin County at 2270 S. McKenzie Street, Suite C, Foley, AL 36535. Funeral arrangements are by Mack Funeral Home, Hwy. 59, Robertsdale, AL.
