Claire Sarah Ordon, 100, of Pensacola, Florida died Friday, March 25, 2011.
Claire Ordon was born in Montgomery, AL on March 9, 1911. She grew up in New York City where she met and married Harry M. Ordon and moved to Pensacola in 1930. Together they operated Ordon's Menswear. She was a lifetime member of B'Nai Israel Synagogue, B'Nai Israel Sisterhood and lifetime member of Hadassah. She enjoyed her volunteer work with Sacred Heart Hospital, but her passion was greeting and serving her customers at Ordon's, which she did for 68 years.
Mrs. Ordon was preceded in death by her husband, Harry M. Ordon, and her son, Ramon L. Ordon.
Survivors include her daughter, Myra Ordon Kahn (Nathan) of Pensacola; sister, Martha S. Miller of Pensacola; grandchildren, Carol Kahn Parker (Shane Johnson) of Pensacola; Louis Kahn (Leslie) of Pensacola; Elisa Ordon Spencer (Don) of Pensacola; Howard Ordon, Tampa, FL, Robert Ordon, Washington, D.C.; five great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and her very dear friend and caregiver, Eretha Dillard.
Graveside funeral services were held Sunday, March 27, 2011 at 1 PM at B'Nai Israel Cemetery with Rabbi Israel Vana of B'Nai Israel Synagogue officiating.
Active pallbearers were Destin Berthelot, Shane Johnson, Shane Johnson II, Alan Kahn, Louis Kahn, Howard Ordon, Robert Ordon and Don Spencer.
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Harry Berger, Dr. Norman Berger, Robert D. Hart, Bill Haven, Gordon B. Kahn, Dr. Amos Prevatt and Leonard Swartz.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Covenant Hospice, 5041 N. 12th Avenue, Pensacola, FL 32504.
Waters & Hibbert Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
