Samuel James, Jr.

Samuel James, Jr. is the third child born to parents, Samuel and Lillie Lang James (deceased) of Mobile, Alabama. He was born on May 27, 1951, and departed on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at a local Hospital. He was surrounded by family.

Samuel James, Jr. was a 1969 graduate of Toulminville High School in Mobile, Alabama. He attended Alabama A&M University and later graduated from the University of West Florida with a Bachelors of Science degree in Finance.

In 1976, Samuel married Drucilla Henderson and to this union two sons were born. Samuel and his family joined Zion Hope P.B. Church and were baptized on June 1, 1990.

Samuel served as a store manager for National Shirt Shop, Zayre's/Aimes, Toys 'R' Us, Old Navy, Goody's, and Goodwill Easter Seals. He was recognized for many outstanding achievements and received various awards. He was known for his leadership.

He leaves to cherish his memories: two sons, Aaron Samuel James (New Port Richey, FL) and Ivan Berron James (North Hollywood, CA). He is survived by his five siblings: Mae Helen Lewis (Mobile, AL), Rosetta (William) Durant (Pensacola, FL), Frank James (Mobile, AL), Sandra Mosley (Mobile, AL), and Pamela (Don) Moors (Atlanta, GA). He also leaves behind one uncle, two aunts, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was also a proud member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.

Memorial services will take place Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Hope Primitive Baptist church, located at 201 W. Leonard St., Pensacola, FL 32501. There will not be a wake. However, viewing will take place one hour prior to the start of service.
