Mozelle Ann Rollins, age 80 of Pensacola, passed away to be with our Lord on Sunday, November 11, 2012 after a 17 year battle with breast cancer.
A proud daughter of Texas, Mozelle was born April 20, 1932 in Rock Island, TX to Lavina Mitchell and Harry Townsend. She had humble beginnings, but Mozelle was a lady and she was loved by all that knew her. Mozelle loved God, family, friends, laughter, good food, and nature's simple gifts - flowers and hummingbirds. She travelled by her husband's side during his successful NASCAR career. They later arrived in Pensacola and Mozelle was a true partner in the business they built and owned together which has lasted 54 years. She did all this while raising three children, making many friends, and creating wonderful memories.
Mozelle had strong faith in God, and after retirement she hosted the Our Lady of Medjugorje prayer group for 10 years in her home. She was a longtime member of St. Michael's downtown and recently a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Bellview.
Mozelle was preceded in death by her father, Harry Townsend; her mother, Lavina Mitchell and her husband, Lloyd "Shorty" Rollins.
She is survived by her sister, Dixie Townsend and friend, Anna Ruth Vogelvang; daughter, Debbie (Taras) Hodivsky; sons, Montgomery (Laura) Rollins and Thomas Rollins; grandchildren, Melissa Skepi, Taras (Bridgette) Hodivsky and Mary Cameron Rollins (Werner Van den Brande); great grandchildren, Basia and Leo Skepi and step great grandchildren, Steven, Nina, Tesha and step great great grandchildren, Madison and Tanner. She is also survived by brother-in-law, John (Dee) Rollins; nieces, nephews and close friend, Ann Bell and special friend, Jack Phillips.
Visitation will be 5-7pm Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with a Rosary at 6:30pm.
Funeral Mass will be held 10:00am Thursday, November 15, 2012 at St. Anne Catholic Church in Bellview with Fr. John Licari celebrant. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Keith Waters, Bruce Bell, Greg Gaines, Mort O'Sullivan, Kent Marple and Danny Mentel.
Honorary Pallbearers are Gil Bennett, Tom Fife, Jack Phillips, Sammy Rose and Bill Vann.
