James O. Morgan

James O. Morgan, "Jim" 87, of Pensacola passed away Thursday, April 25, 2013.
Mr. Morgan was born in Holt, FL and resided in Pensacola most of his life. He was a World War II veteran serving on Various Patrol Craft in the Pacific Theatre, including PC 1128, he participated in many battles including Guadalcanal, and the largest naval battle in the history of the world, the Battle of the Philippine Sea and Leyte Gulf.
Mr. Morgan also served with the U.S. Navy during the Lebanon Crisis in 1956 and aboard an anti-submarine ship during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1961. After his active service he continued as a Navy Reservist as a Chief Petty Officer and navigator aboard his beloved U.S.S. Tweedy. He also worked at NADEP on board Pensacola Naval Air Station as a Supervisory Airframes and Power-plant Mechanic until he retired. Mr. Morgan then began working as a realtor and real estate manager. He was a 32 degree Mason, a member of the Order of Eagles and the American Legion. Jim was a generous man who never forgot his own humble beginnings and was known help anyone in need.
Survivors include a brother, Joseph Morgan; his children, Patricia Barry and Steven Morgan (Janie); grandchildren, Jennifer Anderson, Kelly Parrie, Katherine Goldfield and Francina Barry; great grandchildren, Megan Parrie, Caleb Goldfield, Annaliese Anderson, Elijah Parrie and Brynne Goldfield; his best friend, Marion Gayle Frid.
Preceding Mr. Morgan in death is his beloved wife, Jacqueolyn Ryland Morgan, brother Claude Morgan, sisters Dorothy Fleshman, "J.C ." Gilman, and Wanda Shell.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 27, 2013 from 4 to 6 PM at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 PM Sunday, April 28, 2013 also at PMGFH Chapel. Chaplain Ed Norris of Covenant Hospice officiating.
