1933 - 2013
Walter went to meet his Savior after a long battle with Alzheimer's and dementia. He was born on December 28, 1933; served in the United States Marine Corps and fought in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Pace Assembly of God, loved his Savior, family, fishing and loved to make cast nets. He was employed with and retired from Chemstrand/Monsanto/Solutia after 31 years of dedicated service.
He was preceded in death by his father, W. Allen Taylor; mother, Cecil Harrison; stepfather, Willie Freeman; loving wife of 40 years, Joyce Gilley Taylor; son, Michael C. Taylor and a sister, Audria Zwally.
He is survived by by his loving and devoted wife of seven years, Norma Taylor; daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Joe Whitehead; grandsons, Zachary Storey, Chris (Holly Millsap) Whitehead; great grandchildren, Kaden and Chase Millsap-Whitehead; stepchildren, Debra (Donnie) Channell, Brenda and Tony Hardy and Alan Hall; five step grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; half brother, Donald Freeman and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2013 at the funeral home with Reverend Ron Carnley and Brother Ralph Flowers officiating.
Interment will follow at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Whitehead, Chris Whitehead, Donnie Channell, Tony Hardy, Sr., Tony Hardy, Jr., Danny Hardy and Levert Hardy.
