Kerry Wesley Vermillion, 47, of Pace, FL passed away Sunday, October 20, 2013.

Kerry was born in Birmingham, AL on October 6, 1966. He graduated from Erwin High School in 1985. Kerry served in the Marine Corps Reserves from 1986-1990 where he was Honorably Discharged after a knee injury. He attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham where he received his BS degree in Finance, 1990 and his MBA in 1993. He started his career at Vulcan Material Company 1990-1995. He then worked for Baptist Health System, Birmingham, as Senior Financial Analyst 1995-1997. He moved to Cullman, AL to be CFO of Cullman Regional Hospital from 1997-2001. He then took a job with Mountain States Health Alliance in Johnson City, TN as Vice President and CFO of Johnson City Medical Center and Washington County Operations 2001-2008. From there he moved to Baptist Health Care, Pensacola, FL where he served as Executive Vice President and CFO 2008-present. He earned numerous professional awards and many professional accomplishments: University of Alabama at Birmingham Department of Finance and Economics Advisory Board, Fellow of the American College of Health Care Executives (FACHE), Fellow of the Health Care Financial Management Association (FHFMA), Stephen M. Chaven Distinguished Alumni Award, UAB, Department of Finance, Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and Institute of Management Accountants. His many professional organization presentations and publications included; "Integrating Compass into a Strategic Financial Blueprint" The Advisory Board Company, August 2007, "Moving from Good to Great: Improving Revenue Cycle Performance" HFMA 2006 Dixie Institute, Feb. 2006 and Premier Southeast Atlantic COO/CFO Workgroup, Sept. 2007, "Raising the Bar: Utilizing Compass to Elevate Financial Proformance" The Advisory Board Company, Aug. 2005; "Uncovering Hidden Margin Opportunities" HFMA 2004 Dixie Institute, Feb. 2004; "A Day in the Life of a CFO" HFMA 2004 Dixie Institute, Feb. 2004; "Medicare Outpatient Medical Necessity - A Process for Successful Intervention" HFMA Alabama Chapter Winter Institute, Feb. 1999. Community Activities include: Boy Scouts of America - Cub Scout Leader; Graduate of "Leadership 2015" program sponsored by the Johnson City Chamber of Commerce and the Johnson City Parks and Recreation Department - Youth t-ball and basketball coach.

Kerry is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Pauline Reed Costigan and his paternal grandmother, Telma Vermillion Shelnutt.

Survivors include his loving wife and soul mate of 21 years, Sherry Vermillion; two children, Andrew Wesley Vermillion of Johnson City, TN and Laini Dianne Vermillion; parents, Jesse and Patricia Vermillion of Birmingham, AL; brother, Jerry Vermillion (Karen) of Cullman, AL; sister, Tere Sizemore (Scott) of Birmingham, AL; nephews, Daniel Vermillion and Samuel Vermillion; nieces, Katey Vest (Eric), Kristen Vermillion, Lauren Sizemore and Ashley Sizemore; great-nephew and niece, Riley and Ella Vest.

Visitation will be held 12noon until the Funeral Service to begin at 2:00pm Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Olive Baptist Church with Dr. Ted Traylor officiating. Graveside Service will be held 11:00am Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, Trussville, AL with Dr. Gary Fisher officiating.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Jerry Vermillion, Scott Sizemore, Dale Claytore, Mark Faulkner and David Wildebrandt.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Baptist Health Care Foundation, 1717 N. E. St., Tower 1, Suite #409, Pensacola, FL 32501.

The family wishes to thank the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, FWC Lt. Doug Berryman, Coast Guard, Escambia Search and Rescue, Mark Faulkner and the entire Baptist Hospital Staff, and numerous family and friends.

He loved his family more than anything in his life. He was a loving, caring, providing husband and father that can never be replaced. In his life, he had always put God and his family first. He was loved by many for the outstanding man he was. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
