1925-2013

Jennie Louise Graham Gould, 88, of Birmingham, AL, passed away Monday, December 30, 2013. Mrs. Gould was born June 19, 1925, in Coden, AL. She graduated in 1942 from Peter F. Alba High School, Bayou La Batre, AL; Bachelor of Science, 1946, Alabama College for Women (now University of Montevallo); Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities; Life Member of Florida Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc. Mrs. Gould taught Physical Education at The University of Texas, 1946-1949, taught 7th grade at Peter F. Alba School, 1950-1952 and taught Life Science and Earth Science at Houston Hill Junior High School, Montgomery, AL, for 23 years. She traveled through Europe on a group bicycle tour in 1949 and she played competitive tennis with Ladies League in Pensacola, FL where she was team captain until she was 73 years old. She volunteered at The Montgomery Zoo for many years. Mrs. Gould was a member of Gadsden Street United Methodist Church and a member of United Methodist Women.

She is survived by her loving husband, Edwin H. Gould, Jr.; children, Julie Silvey (Michael) Tampa, FL, Ben Gould(Sharon), Houston, TX, Robert Gould (Jeanette), Front Royal, VA and Jennie Shewmake (Bobby), Birmingham, AL; sisters, Nellie Dowdle, Mabel Dowdle, Grace Previto, Dorothy (Dot) Pugh (deceased) and Eunice McNeely; and seven grandchildren, Ryan Silvey, Kellie Silvey, Christy Gould, Clayton Gould, Kaitlin Shewmake, Brandon Shewmake and Kathryn Shewmake.

Funeral Service will be held at Gadsden Street United Methodist Church, Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with a visitation one hour prior.
