Carl James Cropsey


Carl James Cropsey, age 73, of Pensacola, FL, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2014. He served in the U.S. Navy 31 years and retired as a MCPO Radioman. After retirement, he worked in Civil Service and at Trinity Presbyterian Church. Carl completed a BA in Hotel-Hospitality Management. He enjoyed coaching his children in various sports activities and enjoyed all sports. He was an avid Clemson and NY Giants fan.

He is preceded in death by his mother and two sisters.

Carl is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Betty Cropsey; daughters, Dierdra (Garry) Davis, Christine (Mike) Rodgers, Bonnie Lackey, Shannon (Gary) Martin and Cheryl (Jason) Thompson; sons, Sean Cropsey and Steve (Amber) Cropsey; brother, Martin Cropsey; sisters, Edith Strobeck; 14 grandkids and three great-grandkids.

Pallbearers will be Sean Cropsey, Steve Cropsey, Gary Martin, Jason Thompson, Brad Springstead and Shane Cropsey.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Garry Davis, Mike Rodgers, Martin Crospey, Ryan Martin and Michael Pace.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of CCU at West Florida Hospital and Covenant Hospice for their excellent care and compassion.

Visitation will be held Sunday, January 19, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North.

Funeral Services will take place Monday, January 20, 2014 at 12:00 noon at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North with Reverend Hugh Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.
