George F. Touart, 65, native of Pensacola, FL passed away Friday, January 24, 2014.
George graduated from Pensacola High School, earned his BA degree from University of Southern Mississippi and earned his MS in Public Administration from Troy State University. He was very active in the community and part of many social and civic organizations some of which are: KA Fraternity while in college, Rotary Club, Conquistadores, Order of the Eastern Star, the Masonic Lodge and the Hadji Shrine. His hobbies included golfing, fishing, hunting and many other sports.
George is preceded in death by his grandparents, George F. and Mary Louise O'Connell Touart and James Lane Williamson and Myrtice Williamson Osborn (Bill).
George truly loved his community, Escambia County, and working as County Administrator. He enjoyed working with the Board of County Commissioners, Escambia Co. Department Heads, loyal staff and employees of Escambia County.
Survivors include his loving wife, Barbara Touart of Pensacola; two sons, Matthew Touart of Ocean Springs, MS and Jacob Touart of Pensacola; two daughters, Christy McDonald and Amber Howard both of Pascagoula, MS; grandchildren, Meagan and Zackary McDonald, Brennan, Ivey, Jack Dominic and Mylah Howard and Carter Touart; and his parents, Clyde and Mary Evelyn Touart.
Visitation will be held 5-8pm Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00am Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at St. Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Doug Halsema celebrant. Private Family Committal Service will be held at St. Michael's Cemetery at a later date.
Active Pallbearers will be Mark Clabaugh, Ron McNesby, Richard Harper, Jay Fletcher, Joe Martin, Tommy Simmons, T. Larry Wilson, Terry Smith and Jackie Grimes.
Honorary Pallbearers will be David Kihyet, David Brandon, Bill Haven, Lamar Brazwell, Eddie Russell, David Myers, Gene Valentino, Luman May, Wilson Robertson, Grover Robinson, Mike Whitehead, John Hunter, Larry Newsome, P.C. Wu, Dan Dalrymple, Buck Lee, Dean Kushner, and Sam Camariotes.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice, 5041 N. 12th Ave., Pensacola, FL 32504.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Covenant Hospice; MD Anderson (Houston, TX); Citizens of Escambia County Florida; Board of County Commissioners; all of George's beloved friends; and especially Mark Clabaugh and Terry Smith for all of their loving help and support by George's side.
