Patrick J. "Pat" Blanos

Patrick J. "Pat" Blanos passed away Wednesday, February 26. Born on July 18, 1917, in Augusta, GA, Pat and his family later moved to White Plains, NY, where he graduated from White Plains High School.

He enlisted in the United States Navy in April 1941. As a combat air crewman proficient in the Norden Bomb Site, he served in the European and Pacific Theatres during World War II, aboard the carriers Ranger and Wasp. Retiring after 20 years (June 1961), Pat became a civil servant for an additional 22 years at NAS Pensacola. He then retired to the A.C. Read Golf Course where he enjoyed many rounds until the age of 92.

Pat was the son of the late Demetrios and Evanthea Blanos. He is also preceded in death by his siblings George, Nick, Katherine, Helen, and Jean.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Mary (Tootsie). They recently celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary. Pat is also survived by his daughter Katherine (Brooks) Champlin, granddaughters Shannon (John) Maddox and Kristin Wilson, his great grandson Mark Maddox, who was the apple of his eye, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends whose lives he has touched.

Visitation will be Monday, March 3, at Waters and Hibbert Funeral Home from 5:00pm-6:30pm with the Trisagion Service beginning at 6:30pm. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 4, at 12:30pm at St. Andrews Antiochian Orthodox Church. Burial with military honors will take place at Barrancas National Cemetery at 2:00pm.
