Robert "Duke" Kidwell, 74, of Milton passed away April 30, 2014.

Duke was raised a son of a coalminer in the West Virginia mountains around Tug River. He retired to Milton in 2006 with his wife, Ann Marie Kidwell.

He was a retired Navy Chief, 1956-1976. He served in Vietnam, Cuban Missile Crisis, and was a life member of VFW, AMVETS and Fleet Reserve. He was a Shriner and a Cootie, a passionate bowler and collected sea shells while working abroad in the Philipines, Greece and Bahrain for civil services.

He was an instructor of industrial electricity at Beaufort Technical College and was also a commercial crabber for a few years in Beaufort, SC.

Mr. Kidwell was preceded in death by: his daughter, Sheila Kidwell and his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Marie Kidwell; daughter, Nancy Kidwell Rapach and son-in-law, Adam R. Rapach; granddaughters, Ann Marie Rapach Soto, Caitlin R. Rapach.

A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the memorial service, with full military honors, begins at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 5, 2014 at Trahan Family Funeral Home, Pensacola, Florida.
