James E. Hill

1934-2014

We celebrate as we say our farewells.

James E. Hill was born on April 22, 1934 and took his journey home on May 19, 2014. He spent 20 years in the Navy with multiple deployments on the U.S.S. Tarawa, U.S.S. Intrepid and a plank owner on the U.S.S. Enterprise. He served 12.5 years as a firefighter and 12.5 years in the postal service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Benjamin.

He is survived by his wife, Janice; children, Dawna and husband, (Thomas), James Jr. and Jon and wife, (Sherri); nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; eight brothers and sisters.

He was a member of Marcus Pointe Baptist Church, sang in the choir, teamed with his wife working in the food pantry, making copies of the service for their shut-ins and spent countless hours on visitations for those members. Dad and mom celebrated 55 years of marriage and as mom stated the last 15 years spending everyday together, was a blessing.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. until funeral service begins at 11:45 a.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South with Reverend Brent French officiating. Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.
