Forrest Fulton Obituary

FORREST MILTON FULTON "PAPA"

1920 - 2015

Forrest M. Fulton joined his beloved wife Helen on Sunday, February 08, 2015. They now are together with our Lord, Jesus Christ to continue their journey of eternal life.

Forrest was born on January 18, 1920 and recently celebrated his 95th birthday. He was one of 10 children born to George and Ella Fulton in Carbonhill, AL. He was soon dubbed with a nickname of "Bud" throughout the entire Fulton family.

He was preceded in death by Helen, his wife of 64 years, his son, Richard Fulton, his grandson, Clifford Fulton and his brothers and sisters.

Survivors include daughter, Cheryl (Paul) Fritz; a daughter-in-law, Marsha Fulton; grandchildren, Ashley (Jason) Caudle and Richard Jr. (Dawn) Fulton; great grandchildren, Kaleb, Bryce and Hanna Caudle, and Natasha and Brynlie Fulton; great great grandchildren, Damien, Nathan and Alijha Fulton; special family members, Betsy Reichert and Fran and Frankie Bush; and his canine companion, Ruby.

He served in the US Navy for 20 years and retired as Chief Petty Officer in 1960. Upon retirement he and the family moved to Pensacola, where he then proceeded to work for Picker X-Ray, then Baptist Hospital. Then Sacred Heart Hospital snatched him up to become the Director of their Radiology School which he taught for 25 years. He was always so proud of his students and maintained a friendship with each of them over the years. He then continued to work with SHH as an X-Ray Technician and finally retired the first time. Only to continue working at many satellite Medical Facilities in the area. Volunteering came next for WFH, there also receiving the Humanitarian Award and then working as a volunteer for Medical Center Clinic in their radiology department and guest services department. His volunteering only stopped after his health took a downward turn this past fall.

Forrest was a member of the Covenant Orthodox Presbyterian Church, where he enjoyed many friends in his Christian family. He had a special bond with Henry who has been nicknamed as the "Associate Pastor".

He thoroughly enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren over the past years. Hours were spent showing them magic tricks, card tricks, shooting the BB gun or just sitting on the swing together on the front porch. Many birthday and holiday celebrations were shared around the dining room table. They were a blessing to him and He was a blessing to them.

Special thanks and appreciation goes to all our family members, friends and co-workers who have been there for us with their love, support and prayers. Last, but not least Covenant Hospice, Amedisys Home Health Services, Baptist Hospital's entire staff and Dr. Luis Navas at Medical Center Clinic.

A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10am-12:00 pm with the service beginning at 12:00 pm, a light lunch will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice or his church, Covenant Orthodox Presbyterian Church. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.easterngatememorial.com.

Mr Fulton was always so courteous to the patients and very professional. In my 27 years at SHH he was so nice and even when so busy he never lost his patience and had time to smile. One of a few.

Cheryl, I just read your dad's obituary. I didn't know Mama Helen had passed. Both of your parents were so loving and amazing. Whenever or wherever I saw your dad he always asked about my mom. I will call you soon. In the meantime, I will remember you in my prayers. Love,

Cheryl and family, I know your loss is difficult to grasp now but knowing that your parents are together with loved ones again and that they are not suffering in any way will surely bring peace and rest to you in the days ahead. They impacted so many young people including me. My mother (Polly) loved them and you know they will be missed and remembered fondly. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I am deeply sadden to hear of the loss of Mr. Fulton. He was such a kind man and I thoroughly enjoyed being a student of his. He was the kind of teacher that everyone should have. I learned so very much from him. I never saw him without a smile and something kind to say to everyone. He was the reason that I attended X-ray School at Sacred Heart. I was in an automobile accident in 1973, I had started Junior College taking pre-requisite courses to go to University of Alabama's Radiological Technology course. After one of my trips to the X-ray department, Mr. Fulton took me back to my room and told me that there was a school there at Sacred Heart if I didn't want to go away to University of Alabama--and I really didn't. So, after a year of my pre-requisite courses, I applied to Sacred Heart and was accepted to their program. It was tough, but Mr. Fulton made learning fun. He will be missed by all those whose lives he touched. Rest in Peace kind sir, until we meet on the other side.

I was a candy striper at SH for 6 years and I worked in x-ray. Mr.Fulton gave everyone a nickname and treated you like family. I saw him a few months ago at West Florida and after telling him my nick name, he smiled and we talked for a few minutes. This world has loss a wonderful man.

I am sadden to hear of Mr. Fulton's passing. He was such a wonderful man. I first met Mr. Fulton at SHH while I was in Xray school. It was during my rotation there that I was lucky to meet such an intelligent and kind man. We all will miss him terribly. RIP Fulton!!

Certainly I benefited from knowing Mr. Fulton. I knew him first as a student of his instruction and later as a friend in the profession. Occasionally and often though out or professional lives we would come in contact and always exchange respects. Mr. Fulton was very much indirectly responsible for my career. Although I may not have been one of his best students, I learned a great deal from him including respect for him. I am deeply appreciative of having a life that included Mr. Forrest Fulton. We will all miss this good man. Regards and respects to the family.
