J. Carl Sininger

J. Carl Sininger, 91, of West Union died Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown. He was born January 15, 1923 in Liberty Township in Adams County. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie (Nichols) Sininger and one son, Teddy R. Sininger.

He is survived by one son, Dennis W. Sininger of Georgetown; two daughters, Pam (Owen) Evans of Louisville, Ky. and Sandra K. Berry of West Union; four sisters, Rose McCann of West Union, Helen Culbertson of Dayton, and Lois Riley and Shirley Ramsey, both of Cincinnati; five grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

He was co-owner of the former Sininger Oil Company in West Union; a former employee of Krogers Grocery Store, S & M Food Market, and Knauff's Market, all of West Union; a former farmer in Greenfield; and a former weights and measures inspector for the Adams County Auditor's Office.

He was a 1941 graduate of West Union High School; a board member of the former West Union Local School District; a member of the F & A.M. Lodge No. 43 in West Union; and a 35 year member of the Dunkinsville United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of W.W.II and a member of the V.F.W., Walter Harris, Jr. Post 3400 and the American Legion, Young-Moore Post 100, both in West Union.

The funeral service is Sunday, August 31, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Lafferty Funeral Home in West Union. Pastor Steve Darby and Minister Tulio Tourinho will officiate. The visitation is Saturday from 5 until 8 p.m. The interment is at Kirker Cemetery in Liberty Township. The Adams County Honor Guard will perform a military service.
